‘AXIOM’ FILM & NEW ALBUM LONDON ROUNDHOUSE GIG TO COINCIDE
We are pleased to announce details of our most ambitious project to date, a forty minute short film and accompanying album set for release on CD, Vinyl, Download, DVD and in Cinemas May 2014.
We finished recording the AXIOM album earlier this year and immediately set about working on the accompanying film with Spanish film collective NYSU. Darius takes up the story - “It’s something we’ve always harbored ambitions to do, bring together our music and the film-making process. Every time we make an album somebody says it sounds like the soundtrack to a movie that hasn’t been made, well this time we decided to make the movie”.
Talking about the film, NYSU director Jesus Hernandez added “Archive has produced a great album that works like an entire movie script, we saw our role as composers of a kind of visual soundtrack for the music. Our challenge was to translate the band’s script into images, it’s the most exciting project we’ve ever been involved with.”
We will perform AXIOM live to accompany the film at a one-off worldwide exclusive performance at the prestigious London Roundhouse venue on Thurs 29th May. Exclusive VIP tickets for the Roundhouse show are on sale now from our official website. Tickets go on general sale Thurs 14th November at 9.00am. The AXIOM album and film will be released worldwide on our own Dangervisit label (via [PIAS] Cooperative) in May 2014. All formats can be pre-ordered now from our official website.
AXIOM will be shown with 5.1 surround sound in select cinemas across Europe to coincide with the release (cinema details to follow).
The album was co-produced by Archive and long-term collaborator Jerome Devoise who work with the band on our last studio album, 2012’s ‘With Us Until You’re Dead’.
London/Paris/Brighton-based collective ARCHIVE return with the epic and beautiful album With Us Until You’re Dead.
Produced by longtime collaborator Jerome Devoise, the album will be released on the band’s own Dangervisit Records via Dangervisit / [PIAS] America on November 5th, 2013.
Part-orchestral, part-electronic, part-soulful, part-progressive and wholly emotion-soaked and cinematic, the album touches tangents with Massive Attack, Radiohead, UNKLE, Secret Machines and Pink Floyd, with four dynamic singers fronting a restlessly inventive landscape constructed by Archive’s long-standing core of Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths.
Archive’s dark and dramatic 1996 debut Londinium was a recognized trip-hop classic. Since then the band has grown steadily to the point where they now sell out arenas and headline festivals throughout Europe (including Rock En Seine festival in Paris in 2011).
Talking about the new album Keeler said, “as a collective we’ve always written songs that focused on social and political issues but for this album I really wanted the songs to be more personal - love songs basically. But coming at the subject matter in that non-formatted Archive way.”
“I grew up a massive Otis Redding fan and I wanted to bring some of that soulfulness to the songs, but at the same time to make them twisted and experimental.”
The lovely people at Woodbrass.com have generously donated a guitar to be raffled during the concert at Cluses.
Buy yourself a €5.00 raffle ticket during the day from the Festival Boutique on site and the draw will take place straight after Archive’s show. The lucky winner will be presented with the signed guitar by the band.
All proceeds will go to the Archive - The Quest For Mont Blanc fund.
for a new and incredible challenge involving Archive’s Dave Pen and Alex (Archive’s longstanding tour manager) to read all about their forthcoming challenge to reach the summit of Mont Blanc to raise a substantial amount of money for the international cancer research charity Trekstock.
These are very early days so please ‘like’ the page to stay aware of many forthcoming fund raising events.
Please share this with everyone as we want this to go global. We need your support !!
